The Leverage Devotional by Apostle Segun Obadje 11 FEBRUARY 2024: THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF FAITH
THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF FAITH
Romans 3:21-22, 4:3-8, 10:5-10
Romans 3:21-22 “But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference.”
4 Now to the one who works, wages are not credited as a gift but as an obligation. 5 However, to the one who does not work but trusts God who justifies the ungodly, their faith is credited as righteousness. 6 David says the same thing when he speaks of the blessedness of the one to whom God credits righteousness apart from works:
7 “Blessed are those
whose transgressions are forgiven,
whose sins are covered.
8 Blessed is the one
whose sin the Lord will never count against them.”[b]
Leverage Devotional For Today Message:
The righteousness of faith is the righteousness that God bestows upon everyone who believes in Jesus Christ, and it is the righteousness of God. Thus, the righteousness of faith is the righteousness of God because it is God that imputes it (Romans 4:6). We believe unto this righteousness; we don’t labour unto it. It is with the heart that man believes unto righteousness (Romans 10:10). The righteousness of faith is conferred on you on account of your faith in what Christ has done for you. This means you do not have confidence in your ability to keep the law, but in Christ’s ability to make you righteous by reason of His finished works on the cross. Through faith, all that Jesus Christ did in His substitutionary work for man is credited to your account as though you did it. What a blessing this is.
The righteousness of faith comes to us through the preaching of the Word of faith. Now, what is the Word of faith? Romans 10:8-9 reveals to us that the Word of Faith is the preaching of the Lordship of Christ. “But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” When a man believes in his heart and confesses with his mouth the Lordship of Jesus, then he becomes righteous by his faith in the Lordship of Jesus. In the same vein, all areas of your life can become ‘righteous’ by faith. In other words, when you surrender your body, soul, health, finances, marriage, career, ministry, and all that pertains to you to the Lordship of Jesus, He will reign and make all things right according to God’s will for you. Beloved, daily confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is the Lord of your life, and you will see Him reign over that situation in Jesus’ name.
My Solid Front (Confession)
In the name of Jesus, I declare that Jesus is Lord over my life; therefore, death has no power over me. Jesus is Lord over my body; therefore, sickness cannot lord it over me. Jesus is Lord over my marriage; so, divorce is not going to ravage my home. Jesus is Lord over my finances; so, there is no lack or poverty in my life. AMEN!
Further Meditation: Romans 10:12-13, 4:13-25
12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”[a]
16 Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham’s offspring—not only to those who are of the law but also to those who have the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all. 17 As it is written: “I have made you a father of many nations.”[a] He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed—the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not.
18 Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”[b] 19 Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead—since he was about a hundred years old—and that Sarah’s womb was also dead. 20 Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, 21 being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised. 22 This is why “it was credited to him as righteousness.” 23 The words “it was credited to him” were written not for him alone, 24 but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness—for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. 25 He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.
