Leverage Devotional For Today Message:

God does not want you to live in the awareness of your ugly past. By the finished works of Jesus on the Cross, God did not only forgive your sins but also wiped out your sinful past with the blood of His precious Son, Jesus Christ. This is good news! If you are in Christ, God does not reckon with your past anymore. You are now a new creature in Christ whose past has been done away with (2 Corinthians 5:17). Your old life is passed away; gone for real! No matter how ugly your past was, it is no longer relevant in Christ Jesus. The believer in Christ Jesus begins life on a fresh note. However, many believers are finding it hard to concentrate on making progress in the newness of life which they have received, because they have not truly believed that the past is gone forever. Many of God’s children have not yet come to terms with the reality of grace and forgiveness, which is contained in the Gospel. You see, when God forgives, He forgets. Divine forgiveness entails the wiping out of sin and all its consequences.

When God forgives, He removes the consequences of sin (Psalm 103:1-4; Isaiah 43:25; Romans 8:1-4). The challenge, however, is the memory of past sins. Many let the memory of past mistakes and sins hunt them and minister condemnation to them. This is one of the wiles or tricks of the devil to rob you of your joy and boldness to come before the Throne of Grace. Beloved, any time the devil brings memories of your past to you, just go ahead and laugh at him. He and his tricks are a joke that can never come true. What do you do when jokes are cracked? Laugh, right? Just go ahead and laugh at the devil, because he is a liar and he can’t steal your joy anymore.

MY SOLID FRONT (CONFESSION)
Heavenly Father, I thank You that You have forgiven me of all my sins and have wiped out my past outrightly. I press into the future that has been prepared for me and I make progress with speed in the direction of Your purpose for me in Jesus’ Name. AMEN.
