Leverage Devotional For Today Message:


Favour is an act of gracious kindness, undeserved and not worked for. One of the ways God multiplies is through favour. Abraham our father was highly favoured. He didn’t have to work or labour for his wealth. He became wealthy on the bill of God’s favour. He always departed from every nation he visited with abundance because of God’s favour on him. It’s amazing how God could bless a man by favour and not by labour, isn’t it? On one occasion, Abraham entered into Egypt and Pharaoh got interested in Sarah. Sarah was so fair and beautiful that she attracted the attention of the king. Kings, in those days had so much power; they could seize any beautiful lady and add her to the unending list of their wives or concubines. However, Pharaoh had no idea he was dealing with one on whom the blessing of God was resting. God plagued him and his household for taking Sarah. Pharaoh had to release her to Abraham with cattle, silver and gold (Genesis 12:10-20, 13:1-2).

On another occasion, it was Abimelech, the king of Gerar who seized Sarah. This time, things played out the same way they did earlier in Egypt. He returned Sarah to Abraham with cattle, oxen, silver, men servants, maid servants and landed property (Genesis 20:1-18). If you decide to go by your own labour and trust so much in your hard work, you may increase by measures that are a far cry from God’s definition of increase. You might have gathered few things in life by labour, but you can never compare that to how much God’s favour could have brought to you. A moment of favour is worth much more than a lifetime of labour.
