The Leverage Devotional by Apostle Segun Obadje 22 FEBRUARY 2024: Freedom Through the Finished Works of Christ!
Acts 10:38; John 8:44.
Acts 10:38 “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.”
John 8:44 (NIV)
44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
Leverage Devotional For Today Message:
Jesus Christ is the revelation of the Father to us. He is the revelation of the Father’s love nature to us. Our opening Scripture says Jesus went about doing good, healing all those who were oppressed of the devil. This shows us that God does not oppress; He delivers. God is the deliverer; Satan is the oppressor. Beloved, don’t believe any doctrine that says God teaches His children some spiritual lessons by oppressing them. God’s tool of change and transformation is the Word, not oppression. Yes, He may permit a believer who transgresses to go through a hard time but in the midst of it all, God will always call the believer’s attention back to the Word. God’s rod and His staff comfort us (Psalms 23:4). God does not oppress with evil. Don’t embrace any evil as though from God. Refuse to allow sicknesses in your body, for your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. Don’t say, “this is our family sickness”; you are now in Christ. You hail from God and you are now a part of the family of God. Whatever history God doesn’t have should not be associated with you. Just as Jesus never had a record of sickness, you can live a sickness-free, disease-free life, because of Christ’s finished works for you. Even if the condition has been since birth, if you believe the provision for your healing in Isaiah 53:4-5 and 1 Peter 2:24 and lay hold on it, you will receive your healing. Peradventure you have a health challenge of any kind, or any of your loved ones needs healing, God is healing you and them right now in the Name of Jesus. Receive healing and be healed in Jesus’ Name!
When God speaks, truth is unveiled through His Word. That’s the reason why you should believe God’s Word and not your situation. Don’t embrace the lies of the devil; remember he is a liar. There is no truth in him and when he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own; for he is a liar and the father of it (John 8:44). The devil is not worth believing. God alone should and ought to be believed. The Word of God, the truth, alone should be your consideration. God will never use poverty to straighten you. He is a loving Father who has made adequate provisions for you because of the finished works of Christ for humanity. 2 Corinthians 8:9 says, “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.” Jesus has done His part by becoming your Substitute and taking your place on the cross. What is left is for you to take your place in the provision which has been made available to you. It is not right for you to be poor after that Jesus Christ had become poor that you might be rich. It is unlawful for you to be oppressed because your sins have been forgiven and the consequences obliterated. “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit (1 Peter 3:18).”
My Solid Front (Confession):
In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I declare that I am free from Satan’s hold, free from poverty and sickness. I am free to serve God in plenty of every good thing in Jesus’ Name!
Further Meditation: Isaiah 53:3-5; 1 Peter 2:21-25.
3 He was despised and rejected by mankind,
a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.
Like one from whom people hide their faces
he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.
4 Surely he took up our pain
and bore our suffering,
yet we considered him punished by God,
stricken by him, and afflicted.
5 But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
21 To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.
22 “He committed no sin,
and no deceit was found in his mouth.”[a]
23 When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. 24 “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” 25 For “you were like sheep going astray,”[b] but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
