The Leverage Devotional by Apostle Segun Obadje 10 January 2024: THE SECRET PLACE OF THE MOST HIGH
Topic: THE SECRET PLACE OF THE MOST HIGH
Psalm 91:1-2; Psalms 27:1-5
Psalm 91:1-2 “‘He that dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He’s my refuge and my fortress, my God in Him will I trust”.
Psalm 27:1-5:
1 The Lord is my light and my salvation—
whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When the wicked advance against me
to devour[a] me,
it is my enemies and my foes
who will stumble and fall.
3 Though an army besiege me,
my heart will not fear;
though war break out against me,
even then I will be confident.
4 One thing I ask from the Lord,
this only do I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
to gaze on the beauty of the Lord
and to seek him in his temple.
5 For in the day of trouble
he will keep me safe in his dwelling;
he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent
and set me high upon a rock.
Leverage Devotional For Today Message:
Our opening Scripture makes it clear that there is such a place called the secret place of the Most High God, and that same place is also known as the shadow of the Almighty. When David said in Psalms 121:5-6, “The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night”, he was talking about the shadow of the Almighty. That’s the secret place of the Most High God. It is a place provided and prepared for every covenant child of God and their loved ones. Now, how do you dwell in that secret place? Look at verse two of Psalm 91. It says, “I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge, and my fortress; my God, in Him will I trust”. Beloved, the secret place is invoked and provoked over you and your loved ones when you begin to confess God’s Word in faith. You must say with your mouth that the Lord is your refuge and your fortress, that the Lord is your God, and in Him you trust.
Some trust in chariots, some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God (Psalm 20:7). You must confess what you believe with your mouth. Psalm 27:1-3 says, ‘The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked, even my enemies, and my foes came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell, though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear, though war should rise up against me, in this will I be confident’. You can learn from the Psalmist that you must always confess what you believe even in the face of contrary circumstances. So, you’re declaring the Word of God absolutely with your mouth. As you declare with your mouth that God is your refuge, you’re provoking, invoking, and conferring the privileges of the secret place upon you and upon your loved ones. Hear this, child of God; do not say what they are saying out there in the world. Don’t say, “I’m finished”, don’t cry, and don’t ask questions like, “I hope I’m not going to die?” No, you will not die but live that you may proclaim the good works of the Lord in the land of the living. You are in the secret place of the Most High. Begin to declare the Word and show your confidence in God by invoking and provoking the benefits of the secret place of the Most High God upon you and your loved ones. God bless you in Jesus’ name.
My Solid Front (Confession):
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the privilege of hiding in the secret place, under the shadow of Your wings. Therefore, I will not fear, come what may, because the Lord is my refuge and fortress. My heart trusts in Him; therefore, I and my loved ones are preserved in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Further Meditation:
1 Samuel 19:2 (NIV)
2 and warned him, “My father Saul is looking for a chance to kill you. Be on your guard tomorrow morning; go into hiding and stay there.
20 In the shelter of your presence you hide them
from all human intrigues;
you keep them safe in your dwelling
from accusing tongues.
19 Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus,
20 by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body,
21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God,
22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.
