The Leverage Devotional by Apostle Segun Obadje 2 July 2024: Why People Stay Long In A Situation

Leverage Devotional For Today Message:

The man at the pool of Bethesda had been bedridden for 38 years and he had been waiting at the pool for long. Jesus Christ walked up to him, knowing that He had been there for long, He asked him if he would be made whole. The bedridden man complained about not having anybody to put him in the pool when the waters were stirred. So, his challenge was that he needed help to be put into the pool to get healed but there was no one; he didn’t have anybody. Because he was bedridden and couldn’t walk by himself, he couldn’t get his healing without the help of another man. What we learn from this is that sometimes, people stay too long in their situations because they cause breaches in their relationships with people. Thus, when they need the help of another man, there is no one to help.

If you do not value the covenant relationships and the prophetic advantage that God has given you in the relationships and people around you, it is likely that you would stay longer than required in a situation. Now, we don’t know why the bedridden man at the pool had nobody. He should, at the least, have relatives or siblings; but he had none. Maybe they got tired of him because of his health condition. But with the right relationships, you ought to have people that should stay with you and stick with you closer than a blood brother because they value you and you value them. There are people that will not leave you in whatever situation you are in. When you are going through things, they are there to encourage and strengthen you. You should surround yourself with people who can hold up your hands in prayer and stand by you when you need it the most. Beloved, don’t fight people no matter how much they hurt you. Love and forgive them. Build the relationships that God has blessed you with. Your blessings will mostly come from the network of people around you. Make sure to value both the platonic and covenant relationships you have.

My Solid Front (Confession)

Thank you, Father, for the blessing of people and relationships. Today, I acknowledge and receive the blessings that come with people and I do well to maintain a healthy relationship with those You have surrounded me with.

Further Meditation: Luke 7:1-10, Proverbs 17:17
