The Leverage Devotional by Apostle Segun Obadje 2 January 2024: The Seal of the Blood

Topic: The Seal of the Blood

1 Corinthians 11:25; Exodus 12:1-28

1 Corinthians 11:25  After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

Exodus 12:1-28

1 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron in Egypt,

“This month is to be for you the first month, the first month of your year.

Tell the whole community of Israel that on the tenth day of this month each man is to take a lamb[a] for his family, one for each household.

If any household is too small for a whole lamb, they must share one with their nearest neighbor, having taken into account the number of people there are. You are to determine the amount of lamb needed in accordance with what each person will eat.

The animals you choose must be year-old males without defect, and you may take them from the sheep or the goats.

Take care of them until the fourteenth day of the month, when all the members of the community of Israel must slaughter them at twilight.

Then they are to take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the lambs.

That same night they are to eat the meat roasted over the fire, along with bitter herbs, and bread made without yeast.

Do not eat the meat raw or boiled in water, but roast it over a fire—with the head, legs and internal organs.

10 Do not leave any of it till morning; if some is left till morning, you must burn it.

11 This is how you are to eat it: with your cloak tucked into your belt, your sandals on your feet and your staff in your hand. Eat it in haste; it is the Lord’s Passover.

12 “On that same night I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn of both people and animals, and I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the Lord.

13 The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are, and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt.

14 “This is a day you are to commemorate; for the generations to come you shall celebrate it as a festival to the Lord—a lasting ordinance.

15 For seven days you are to eat bread made without yeast. On the first day remove the yeast from your houses, for whoever eats anything with yeast in it from the first day through the seventh must be cut off from Israel.

16 On the first day hold a sacred assembly, and another one on the seventh day. Do no work at all on these days, except to prepare food for everyone to eat; that is all you may do.

17 “Celebrate the Festival of Unleavened Bread, because it was on this very day that I brought your divisions out of Egypt. Celebrate this day as a lasting ordinance for the generations to come.

18 In the first month you are to eat bread made without yeast, from the evening of the fourteenth day until the evening of the twenty-first day.

19 For seven days no yeast is to be found in your houses. And anyone, whether foreigner or native-born, who eats anything with yeast in it must be cut off from the community of Israel.

20 Eat nothing made with yeast. Wherever you live, you must eat unleavened bread.”

21 Then Moses summoned all the elders of Israel and said to them, “Go at once and select the animals for your families and slaughter the Passover lamb.

22 Take a bunch of hyssop, dip it into the blood in the basin and put some of the blood on the top and on both sides of the doorframe. None of you shall go out of the door of your house until morning.

23 When the Lord goes through the land to strike down the Egyptians, he will see the blood on the top and sides of the doorframe and will pass over that doorway, and he will not permit the destroyer to enter your houses and strike you down.

24 “Obey these instructions as a lasting ordinance for you and your descendants.

25 When you enter the land that the Lord will give you as he promised, observe this ceremony.

26 And when your children ask you, ‘What does this ceremony mean to you?’

27 then tell them, ‘It is the Passover sacrifice to the Lord, who passed over the houses of the Israelites in Egypt and spared our homes when he struck down the Egyptians.’” Then the people bowed down and worshiped.

28 The Israelites did just what the Lord commanded Moses and Aaron.

Leverage Devotional For Today Message:

Today, we want to learn from the scriptures, how a new chapter is opened up by the seal of the blood. The blood is the way to open up the womb of anything. You can release the power of the blood of Jesus to enforce everything God has ordained for you in this new season. The month of the Lord’s Passover was the beginning of the year for the children of Israel (Exodus 12:2). When God would lead the children of Israel into a new chapter of their lives, it was sealed by the blood of the lambs which were slain on their last night in Egypt. The blood that was shed that night was a token of an end to centuries of slavery and a new dispensation of liberty to serve the Lord. The blood was also the token that excluded them from the death and destruction that smote Egypt. “And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt. And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.” (Exodus 12:13-14).

Beloved, Jesus Christ is your Passover (1 Corinthians 5:7). He was slain for you, and His blood shed for you. Because Jesus was sacrificed for you, the old leaven is gone, and you have become a new lump. This is why if any man is in Christ, He is a new creature; new in every way for all things become new (2 Corinthians 5:17). Through faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, you became a new being. His blood is a token that the devil has no power over you and yours. His blood is a token that sin has no dominion over you. The blood of Jesus is a token that you were healed by His stripes. Now you are free, righteous, and healed, and all this was made possible by Christ your Passover. The seal of your new reality is the blood of Jesus. Covenants are enacted with blood, and the blood of Jesus is the seal of the New Covenant (1 Corinthians 11:25). Your new life in Christ started at the Passover, and you can reenact this newness by observing the Passover. This is why you must keep the memorial of the death and resurrection of Christ via the Holy Communion. As often as you take the Holy Communion, you engage the seal of the blood of Jesus Christ and a new dispensation opens up to you.

My Solid Front (Confession): Jesus Christ is my Passover. By Him, I step out of the old and into the new. It’s a new beginning for me. Through faith in the death and resurrection of Christ, I have become a new being. Therefore, I declare that this year, I enjoy all His blood purchased for me in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Further Meditation:

Revelation 21:5 (NIV)

He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

1 Corinthians 5:1-13 (NIV)

1 It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that even pagans do not tolerate: A man is sleeping with his father’s wife.

And you are proud! Shouldn’t you rather have gone into mourning and have put out of your fellowship the man who has been doing this?

For my part, even though I am not physically present, I am with you in spirit. As one who is present with you in this way, I have already passed judgment in the name of our Lord Jesus on the one who has been doing this.

So when you are assembled and I am with you in spirit, and the power of our Lord Jesus is present,

hand this man over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh,[a][b] so that his spirit may be saved on the day of the Lord.

Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough?

Get rid of the old yeast, so that you may be a new unleavened batch—as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.

Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old bread leavened with malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people—

10 not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world.

11 But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister[c] but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people.

12 What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside?

13 God will judge those outside. “Expel the wicked person from among you.”
