The Leverage Devotional by Apostle Segun Obadje 24 FEBRUARY 2024: REDEEMED FROM POVERTY
9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.
Leverage Devotional For Today Message:
God’s original plan for man is to live in abundance, a realm that is beyond not enough or just enough; a realm of more than enough. He created value and all the riches in the world for man to enjoy. Notice that the first words that God spoke to man at creation were words of blessing, commanding man to be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it and have dominion (Genesis 1:27-28). Man never lacked anything in the beginning. He had access to everything that he needed and did not need to struggle or beg before he got them. The fall of Adam in the garden of Eden however, brought separation between man and the commanded blessing, leaving man with curses and a life of struggles and poverty (Genesis 3:17). But thanks be to God who has restored us back to a life of abundance through Christ. Our opening scripture reveals that Jesus was our Substitute for the curse of poverty so that we may be qualified to receive the blessing of Abraham. The redemptive works of Christ on the cross has bought back our prosperity and taken away the root of poverty.
If you are a new man in Christ Jesus, you are not meant to be poor because the grip of poverty has been broken over your life! Understand this truth that Jesus was made poor so that you might become rich (2 Corinthians 8:9). So, you and poverty have become two parallel lines that can never meet. This brings you into that advantageous life of living in abundance. Are there believers today who are wallowing in poverty and debts despite all the blessings that they have been blessed with in Christ? Yes! It is possible to declare freedom for a slave and the slave is still living with the mindset of slavery. Don’t allow that to happen to you, Beloved. For you, say, “I have been redeemed from poverty and I know it!” Glory to God! That awareness or consciousness is very key to positioning your mind to make withdrawals from the blessing of Abraham that you now possess in Christ. You are now one with Christ, the seed of Abraham, and by that you too are the seed of Abraham. If you need any provision, all you must do is to lift your eyes in faith unto God who alone is the source of the blessing and make a demand on the blessing as you so require, and it shall be given unto you. Believe that the provision is available and ask for it and you will receive answers. Do not believe that lie of the devil that believers are not meant to be rich. Prosperity is a vital part of your destiny!
My Solid Front (Confession)
In the Name of Jesus, I declare that I have been redeemed from poverty because Jesus Christ was made poor for me and has become my Substitute. Therefore, I live in abundance and do not borrow. Amen
Further Meditation: Isaiah 53:3-5, 3 John 1:2
3 He was despised and rejected by mankind,
a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.
Like one from whom people hide their faces
he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.
4 Surely he took up our pain
and bore our suffering,
yet we considered him punished by God,
stricken by him, and afflicted.
5 But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
2 Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.
