Leverage Devotional For Today Message:

It is not sufficient as a Christian to merely live or to barely exist (just breathing in and out, eating, sleeping and going through the motions). A dog, a goat or a bird will be satisfied with such an existence but man was created for much more. We are not meant to just exist: all humans are meant to live purposeful lives and there is even a more special kind of living provided for Christians. Only when you get a hold of this special way of living, can you be said to be living right. This special kind of life is living by the Word.

Man is a spirit being, who has a soul and lives in a body (I Thessalonians 5:23). Every living thing, plant or animal needs sustenance (food) to survive. Food is defined as anything eaten to satisfy appetite and to meet physiological needs for growth, to maintain all body processes, and to supply energy to maintain body temperature and activity. In the same vein, to satisfy the appetite of our spirit, meet the growth needs of our spirit, maintain the processes of our spirit and supply energy to our spirit, we need food. However, the food our spirit needs is spiritual – the Word of God (Matthew 4:4). Bearing in mind that man is primarily a spirit, emphasis should be laid even more on the growth of our spirit man and this is achieved by feeding on the Word of God. Feeding on the Word involves reading (Matthew 12:3, 19:4), studying (II Timothy 2:15), meditating (I Timothy 4:15) and acting on the Word (James 1:23). ‘Read your bible and pray every day, if you want to grow’ is an old song we sang as toddlers. The truth in that song is timeless. Nothing can be truer! Beloved, living right is living by the Word.

MY SOLID FRONT (CONFESSION):
Heavenly Father, I thank You for giving me Your holy written Word. I declare that the Word of God is my guide from this day onwards. I am a hearer and a doer of the Word of God. I live by the Word. The word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path in Jesus’ Name. AMEN.
