16 “Men and brethren, this Scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus; 17 for he was numbered with us and obtained a part in this ministry.”
18 (Now this man purchased a field with the [a]wages of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst open in the middle and all his [b]entrails gushed out. 19 And it became known to all those dwelling in Jerusalem; so that field is called in their own language, Akel Dama, that is, Field of Blood.)
20 “For it is written in the Book of Psalms:
‘Let his dwelling place be [c]desolate,
And let no one live in it’;
and,
‘Let another take his [d]office.’
Leverage Devotional For Today Message:
God is not against money; He created it. Money is value but the Bible says the love of money is the root of all evil. The devil is the one who reigns and rules over evil; he is the initiator of evil. So he wants to get believers to love money, which is called covetousness or greed. The scriptures say that when God’s children covet after money or love money, they will err from the faith. In other words, the love of money is a bypass from the faith; it will cause you to veer off from the faith and become pierced through with many sorrows, as was the case with Judas Iscariot (Acts 1:16-20). There are many sorrows that come with the love of money. Beloved, God wants to bless you. He wants to give you money. Silver and gold belong to God and He wants to give them to you. But He wants your heart to be with Him. It is not so much about what God blesses you with as it is about where your heart is. Your heart must be with God, for where your heart is, there your treasure will be (Matthew 6:21). So, God must be your treasure, and your heart must pant after Him alone (Psalm 42:1).
Beloved, your heart must not be with money. Money is a servant; it ought to serve you. You ought not to serve money. You are not a slave of money, rather you are a master of money. So, you ought not to give your heart to money. Proverbs 23:4 says, “labour not to be rich, cease from thine own wisdom”. God wants to bless you, but He doesn’t want your labour to tilt towards wealth because the moment you begin to do that, you are making wealth an idol. Covetousness of money is idolatry. God wants you to get your affection, your heart, and your desire towards Him alone. Incline yourself towards God and He will make you rich. I pray that the love of money will not take you over in Jesus’ name. Amen
My Solid Front (Confession)
Heavenly Father, I thank You for showing me that money was designed to serve me. Therefore, I do not give my heart to money or the love of it. My heart and affections are set on God and His kingdom. Amen
