Leverage Devotional For Today Message:

The Christian marriage goes thus: a man prays and finds out God’s plan for his life, he then discovers a woman who fits into that plan. A man should not be searching for a life partner when he hasn’t yet discovered his purpose for living. That’s confusion. When he finds the woman who fits into God’s plan for him, he proposes marriage to her. The Christian lady who is the recipient of his proposal must also see purpose in his proposal as much as he is seeing it; else it wouldn’t be mutual or balanced. Her consent begins a Christian courtship, where there is preparation for marriage, life and destiny. Christian marriage starts with perceiving God’s will, not emotional attachment. Don’t be driven by the sensual. The will of God is primary. Physical attributes like height, complexion, natural family tree, beauty, level of education, etc., are secondary. Don’t go for the secondary at the expense of the primary.

In Christian courtship, there must be sanctity. Keep yourself in the will of God. No sexual intercourse! Imagine if Mary had been playing around with Joseph while they were courting; God wouldn’t have found her worthy enough a vessel to bring forth Jesus. Virginity is biblical. If you have made mistakes, repent and move on. Don’t condemn yourself but make sure you keep yourself henceforth. Courtship is a period of learning some things, among which is temperance. You learn to deny your body, to put it under. By doing this, temperance is learned such that even when you are married, no stranger can tempt you. A man and woman become one flesh, whether married or not, through sexual intercourse. Marriage is the legal ground given by God for sexual intercourse (I Corinthians 6:16; Genesis 2:24). During the wedding ceremony, a couple is made one in purpose and covenant before God. God ratifies that covenant by their words of commitment to each other and thereafter they may consummate through sexual intercourse.

MY SOLID FRONT (CONFESSION) Heavenly Father, I thank You because You show me Your will for my life. I know Your will for my life and I fulfill it. I use marriage lawfully according to Your will in Jesus’ Name. AMEN.
