The Leverage Devotional by Apostle Segun Obadje 7 October 2024: Act on the Word

Leverage Devotional For Today Message:

To hear God’s Word and not act on it is to deceive oneself. God wants us to be doers of His Word. The truth is that there are blessings from God that you will never experience till you begin to act on God’s Word that you’ve heard. For example, you may hear about tithing and how important it is to tithe, and how there are great benefits attached to tithing, but until you actually begin to tithe, you will not experience the blessing that comes with tithing. God blesses the doer not the hearer of His Word. James 1:25 says that the man who does the Word shall be blessed in his deed. Another important reason for acting on the Word is that it brings about true and complete renewing of the mind. Having heard God’s Word on a particular subject, acting on the Word actually brings about a completion of the process of renewal of the mind. The renewal of the mind begins with hearing the Word but it is completed by acting on it.

If you hear God’s Word on forgiving those who wrong you, you will know that your mind has been renewed to that Word when you find yourself in a situation where someone wronged you but you chose to forgive him or her. The Bible admonishes us to exercise ourselves in godliness (1 Timothy 4:7-8). The way we do that is by acting on the Word of God that we’ve heard. If God’s Word says to give, you give. If God’s Word says to forgive, you forgive. You do what the Word says. When God says to do something, it means we have the ability to do it. Why would God tell us to do something He knows we couldn’t do? That would be unjust of Him. For example, God’s Word tells us, “Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds” (Colossians 3:9). This means we can do it. You can always tell the truth at will; yes, you can. God bless you.
