The Leverage Devotional by Apostle Segun Obadje 31 August 2024: Don’t Touch Strife III

Leverage Devotional For Today Message:

When milk is churned, the result is butter. Churning means stirring vigorously, vehemently. When you agitate milk, the end result is butter. So also, if you continuously wring your nose, it will start bleeding. Keeping hold to anger leads to strife. When you churn anger by dwelling on it and recounting it, strife is the result. It is possible to get angry but don’t dwell on your anger. We are in a world where no two people are alike. People are different and understand things differently. Our upbringing may also not be exactly alike or the same. We may differ in many things, but we can dwell in peace with one another despite our differences. You may have a neighbour who delights in stepping on toes, or a friend who offends and takes offence easily. You may be angry for their actions, but don’t dwell on your anger.

Don’t take anger to the next level of strife. Learn to forgive just as your heavenly Father forgives you. If you pick up an issue with someone, the moment an apology is rendered, accept it. You don’t have to make the person understand how hurt you are. Accept the apology and move on. You don’t always have to speak your mind when you are offended. Let it go and move on. Even if the person doesn’t apologize, you just forgive the person anyway. The Bible calls the man who allows anger rest in his bosom ‘a fool’. Don’t be one. Be slow to anger and quick to forgive. Moses was the meekest man on earth in his day but he didn’t enter into his rest because of anger. He laboured but didn’t enjoy the fruits of it. He got angry with the Israelites and spoke unadvisedly in his anger (Psalm 106:32-33). Beloved, don’t touch strife!

MY SOLID FRONT (CONFESSION):

Heavenly Father, I thank You for showing me that anger lies in the bosom of a fool. I am not a fool, so I refuse to let anger rest in my bosom. I am slow to get angry and quick to forgive. Anger does not rest in my bosom. I am a love being and I walk in love, having patience towards all men, in Jesus’ Name. AMEN.

Further Meditation: Proverbs 15:18; 16:32, 19:11
