Leverage Devotional For Today Message:

God created man in His image and after His likeness. God is a speaking God. He creates and upholds all things by the Word of His power. God’s Words are creative. Man’s words are creative as well because man was made in God’s image. The Word of God reinforces this assertion by saying, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue”. With your words, you can create life or unleash death. The tongue is one of the smallest members of the human body but it is the most powerful. With it you can uplift or tear down. God calls those things that are not as though they already had been in existence, and they become. The same way, we can by the faith of God call forth good things by speaking the Word of God. Our words create our world. Words have power, presence and prophetic implications. They can travel into our past, seize our present and define our future. A good handle of words is a good mastery of life.

The tongue is so powerful that the Bible says anyone who can control his tongue can bridle his entire body (James 3:1-2). Many Christians, however, err in this matter. Many speak loose words without any sense of their consequences, being ignorant of the power in their tongues. We can train our tongues such that every word we speak ministers grace to the hearers. How? This is done by filling our thoughts with God’s Word daily so our tongues can speak from the abundance of our hearts (Luke 6:45). We are to edify with every single word we speak. God wants us to be so conscious of our words because every idle word we speak will be accounted for on the Day of Judgment. You will have what you say, therefore, watch what you say. Death and life are in your lips. Choose life!

MY SOLID FRONT (CONFESSION)
My lips are yielded to God. Every word I speak ministers grace to the hearers. No evil communication proceeds out of my mouth. I edify with my words. I speak life; I speak grace, in Jesus’ Name. AMEN.
