The Leverage Devotional by Apostle Segun Obadje 29 August 2024:Don't Touch Strife I

Leverage Devotional For Today Message:

Strife is bitter conflict, rivalry or disagreement over fundamental issues that are often contentious and violent. It is bitter dispute or conflict for rights. Abraham was a man of love. When strife came up between his herdsmen and his nephew’s, as touching grazing for their herds, Abraham was quick to nip it in the bud. He quickly called his nephew presenting him with the option of choosing any part of the land for the purpose of settlement and grazing for his herds. This might sound absurd because it was Abraham God called in the first place. Lot was just a tag-along. Also, Abraham was older than Lot and wealthier. He should choose first; however, he gave up his first choice for peace. It is evident from this account what Abraham’s priority was. He was a man of peace and would give up anything for it.

Abraham’s actions may sound foolish to a lot of Christians today especially in this part of the world (Africa) where ‘respect’ is a major issue. However, Abraham was wise. He understood that the blessing does not operate in an atmosphere of strife. He knew that strife hinders the blessing and he understood that the scope of the blessing was too large to compromise it for landed property. He got his priorities right. He was quick to get rid of strife because he knew that strife chokes the blessing. Abraham trusted God enough to know that God’s blessing was not dependent on the kind of land on which he dwelled. Lot actually chose the best part of the land according to human wisdom but it brought him a lot of grief and it was Abraham’s intercession God used to get him off of that. You can’t stay in strife and have the blessing work for you simultaneously. No!

MY SOLID FRONT (CONFESSION)
Father, I thank You because I am blessed with faithful Abraham. I refuse to give in to strife. I follow peace with all men. I walk in love at all times in Jesus’ Name. AMEN.
