The Leverage Devotional by Apostle Segun Obadje 26 FEBRUARY 2024:THE MEANING OF PROSPERITY
A Lifestyle of Prosperity
Joel 2:26; Genesis 24:1
Joel 2:26 “And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.”
Genesis 24:1 Abraham was now very old, and the Lord had blessed him in every way.
Leverage Devotional For Today Message:
Prosperity is the life of the believer. In the beginning, there was no lack, there was no poverty; there was only abundance. When God created man in His image, the first communication from God to man was the blessing. Man was made to prosper, to live a blessed life. It is God’s will for His children to prosper. The opening scripture reveals to us that God does not want His children to barely get by in life. He wants us to eat in abundance unto satisfaction. The kind of blessing and prosperity that would make your soul satisfied and testify to God’s goodness is what God has given you in Christ. 1Timothy 6:17 says that God gives us richly all things to enjoy. Jesus, in John 10:10, said He came to give us life, not in a little or manageable measure, but in an abundant measure. A lifestyle of prosperity is a lifestyle of abundance, of more than enough, having over and above what you require so that you can flow out to other people around you. This is what prosperity stands for: increase beyond measure, fruitfulness beyond limits, and progress on a daily basis.
Beloved, do not limit your mind to thinking that you will just manage and get by. Say this with your mouth: “I believe in prosperity. Prosperity is God’s will for me. God created me to live a life of prosperity. I refuse to believe the lie of the devil. My life is a prosperous life.” Think on this and say it out loud till every fibre of your being absorbs this as your reality in Christ. In living a prosperous life, however, you must never forget the purpose of the wealth God commits into your hands. Anyone who does not understand the purpose of wealth does not deserve to own it. The rich fool in Luke 12 thought that all his wealth was just for his consumption, and that same night, God called for his soul. A lifestyle of prosperity is not a lavish or luxurious lifestyle. It is not a lifestyle of selfishness and self-centredness. It is a lifestyle of being rich towards God. It is a purposeful lifestyle, lived in accordance with God’s will. God will commit wealth into your hands, to the tune of the vision in your heart. A blessed and prosperous man does not just go after what to wear, eat, drink, or where to live. He seeks to make an impact, using the resources God has blessed him with. When you are able to fulfil a dream which is bigger and greater than your human capacity, then you are living a prosperous life. A lifestyle of prosperity is not void of trust in God; it is totally dependent on God.
My Solid Front (Confession)
Prosperity is God’s design for me. My Heavenly Father is the Author of more than enough. I live in the realm of more than enough. My God gives me richly all things to enjoy, and I declare that I am rich towards God in Jesus’ name.
Further Meditation: Luke 12:13-21
13 Someone in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.”
14 Jesus replied, “Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you?” 15 Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”
16 And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. 17 He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’
18 “Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. 19 And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’
20 “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’
21 “This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.”
