Leverage Devotional For Today Message:

To subdue means to bring under forcible control. When you subdue a thing, you have put it under your control. The blessing empowers you to subdue all things under you. This connotes that things will not automatically fall in line without you consciously bringing them under subjection. In your realm of endeavour, your career, your ministry, your family, your sphere of influence, you are supposed to bring all the vital elements of influence there under forcible control. The blessing gives you the handle of life’s situations and circumstances.

Imagine that you have a flower garden in your house. One day, you noticed that the flowers have overgrown the garden bed and have even extended to the perimeter of your compound. What would you do? Trim the flowers, of course! You put it back under control. That’s what it means to subdue. You don’t let things go out of control with your eyes wide open. If you notice things you don’t like in your life, for instance, your income is reducing and your expenses are increasing, take charge! Don’t get worked up over unpleasant things; subdue them. Plan your finances. Plan your monthly spending; have a budget. There is nothing wrong with budgeting. Jesus said that a man who starts building a house without first counting the cost is not wise. Plan your spending; budget your money but do it in the Spirit. Make sure your tithe is first and let there be seed allowance. In other words, plan to sow seeds also. God said to “rest”, not to “over rest”. If you notice that sleep is becoming a major event in your life, subdue it! Be temperate in all things. Don’t even let your sexual urge or appetite for food get the better part of you.

Heavenly Father, I thank You that I am born of You and the ability to subdue is mine in Christ Jesus. Therefore, I subdue all things because I am a believer and I am blessed. My moderation is known unto all men. I live a balanced life. Nothing controls me but I subdue all things in Jesus’ Name. AMEN.
