Leverage Devotional For Today Message:

Another version of Isaiah 66:2 says, “For all these things my hand has made, and they are mine, says the Lord; but to this man only will I give attention, to him who is poor and broken in spirit, fearing my word.” (BBE). God gives attention and has respect to the man who trembles at His Word. What does it mean to tremble at God’s Word? It doesn’t mean to shake when God is speaking to you. It means to highly esteem God’s Word, to place a premium on the Word. That means the Word of God is given priority and first place in your life. There are a lot of people, even believers in Christ, who don’t place a premium on the Word of God. They value other things apart from God’s Word. Some people emphasize so much on the place of prayer in the life of a believer but place less emphasis on the Word of God. Such people could spend hours praying, but when it comes to studying the Bible or listening to the Word of God, they don’t give so much time.

The truth is that it takes a good understanding of God’s Word to have an effective, result-producing prayer life. The Lord Jesus said, “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” (John 15:7) A good knowledge and understanding of the Word of God is the foundation for a successful prayer life. The Word of God must be put in its rightful place in our lives, the place of priority; all other things come after the Word. Beloved, the value you place on God’s Word is the true reflection of how much of the Word is dwelling in you. Your life cannot be better than your value for God’s Word.

Heavenly Father, thank You for showing me that Your Word ought to be first in my life. I commit to prioritizing the Word at all times in my life in Jesus’ Name. AMEN.
