Leverage Devotional For Today Message:

The fulfillment of your destiny as a child of God is dependent on who your pastor is. The instant you became born again, you were born into the family of God. Salvation is a divine welcome to the family of God (Ephesians 3:14-15). As a newborn baby who has just been born into God’s family, God takes responsibility for you by assigning a pastor (shepherd, overseer) to you for your spiritual upbringing. Growing up in the family of God without a pastor is like growing up naturally without the contributions of your earthly parents. Such growth will be impaired and stunted. Children without good parenting find it difficult to fulfill their destinies in life. Success eludes millions of them in this category.

Your pastor is your spiritual father, who takes responsibility for your spiritual upbringing. God has assigned pastors to every member of the Body of Christ. If you are born again and don’t have a pastor to whom you are accountable and whose voice of counsel you are following, then you are not functioning according to divine plan. Every child of God ought to have a pastor over them. No member of the Body of Christ is permitted to float without a pastor, your personal reasons, preferences or circumstances notwithstanding. Just as you didn’t choose your earthly parents, you don’t choose your pastor. It is God who sets the solitary in families (Psalm 68:6). It is God who assigns a pastor to you. Make no mistakes; the pastor you have chosen is not your pastor, but the one God has chosen for you. If you don’t have a pastor yet, pray to God to lead you to your pastor, and He sure will. Don’t ever assume church attendance and pastorate. Be clear about where to go to church and who to pastor you, because who pastors you determines whether or not you’ll fulfill your God-given destiny. If fulfilling destiny is important to you, then church attendance and the choice of who pastors you must be as important as fulfilling destiny because they are mutually inclusive.
