TOPIC: You Are Not An Accident

READ: Genesis 1: 14-19 (NKJV)

  1. Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years;
  2. “and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so.
  3. Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. [He made] the stars also.
  4. God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth,
  5. and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that [it was] good.
  6. So the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

THE MESSAGE:

It is beautiful to note in our text today that God created different lights – not for the fun of it – but to serve different purposes. They were to divide the day from the night and be for signs and seasons; the sun was to give its light in the day and the moon and stars were to supply their lights at night. They all have definite purposes to serve at appointed times. God is so purposeful!

Child of God, your life is not an accident. God has a great and beautiful intention for creating you. Before you were formed in your mother’s womb, He knew you and had ordained a beautiful course of life for you (Jeremiah 1: 5). You are not an accident in your family; you are not a misfit in your marriage; you were brought through your lineage for a good purpose which you must strive to discover and fulfil. As God by His wisdom fixed the lights in the firmament of heavens to give light upon the earth, so He has made you a bearer of His light of glory in all your spheres of life and endeavours. You are not an accident!

PRAYER: Dear Lord, give me grace to discover and fulfil Your purpose for my life.
