The Daily Fountain Devotional of the Church Of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) 29 September 2024 — Benefits Of Trusting God
TOPIC: Benefits Of Trusting God
READ: Psalm 125: 1-5 (NKJV)
- A Song of Ascents. Those who trust in the LORD [Are] like Mount Zion, [Which] cannot be moved, [but] abides forever.
- As the mountains surround Jerusalem, So the LORD surrounds His people From this time forth and forever.u
- For the scepter of wickedness shall not rest On the land allotted to the righteous, Lest the righteous reach out their hands to iniquity.
- Do good, O LORD, to [those who are] good, And to [those who are] upright in their hearts.
- As for such as turn aside to their crooked ways, The LORD shall lead them away With the workers of iniquity. Peace [be] upon Israel!
People who trust the Lord are stable, cannot be moved and are protected by the Lord forever. The staff held by wicked rulers as a symbol of authority and sovereignty shall not rest on the land of the righteous so that the righteous would not be tempted to iniquity. In our text, the Lord is called on to do good to the righteous and to people of integrity. The writer also appeals to him to remove the crooked and wicked from His presence. Peace is then invoked upon Israel. Trusting in God is beneficial in this life and in the life to come.
Those who trust in the Lord enjoy stability, safety, peace and protection. If you trust God, He will keep you from wickedness and do you good. If you put your trust in the Lord, He will keep crooked and wicked people far from you. Some people put their trust in their wealth, idols, connections, position, pastors, beauty and even education but these things fail. It is better to trust in the Lord than to put your confidence in man (Psalm 118: 8-9). Put your trust in God and you have nothing to fear (Psalm 56: 11). He is a faithful God.
PRAYER: Precious Father, please help me to put my trust in You alone, today and always. Amen.
