Leverage Devotional For Today Message:


God’s Word is able to build you up. The expression ‘build up’ in Acts 20:32 is like when a house is built from the foundation up, a block upon another until the whole structure is completed. “We are being built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Jesus Christ Himself being the chief corner stone.” (Ephesians 2:20). How does God build us up? By the instrumentality of His Word. Ephesians 4:11-16 shows us Christ’s desire for His Church. He wants us to be built up, to grow in love and be edified until we come to maturity in Him. How is this going to be achieved? By the Word. Ephesians 4:11 tells us that the Lord Jesus, the Head of the Church, gave ministry gifts to His body. The main purpose of these gifts is to build up the body of Christ (believers), and this ministry will be carried out mainly with God’s Word.

The Lord Jesus said to Peter before He ascended “…feed My sheep” (John 21:15-17). What was Peter going to feed Christ’s sheep with? The Word of God, of course. The reason many believers are not growing and coming to maturity is that they are not being fed with God’s Word. Now, they may be attending church, but if God’s Word is not what they are receiving in the church they attend, then their growth and development will be stunted. Others do not get enough of the Word to build them up because they have the bad habit of missing church services and meetings. God’s material for building up the church is His Word. Let Him build you up today and always as you give attention to His Word.

MY SOLID FRONT (CONFESSION)
Heavenly Father, I thank You for building me up by Your Word. I give myself continually to the Word of Your grace by which I am built up in Christ. AMEN.
