The Daily Fountain Devotional of the Church Of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) 24 September 2024 — A Prophet In Shiloh

TOPIC: A Prophet In Shiloh

READ: 1 Samuel 3: 19-21 (NKJV)

  1. So Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him and let none of his words fall to the ground.
  2. And all Israel from Dan to Beersheba knew that Samuel [had been] established as a prophet of the LORD.
  3. Then the LORD appeared again in Shiloh. For the LORD revealed Himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the word of the LORD.

God’s word had been rare in Shiloh when He stopped speaking (1 Samuel 3: 1). However, the donation of Samuel by his parents to God in His house at Shiloh brought a remarkable change. For the first time, God revealed Himself to Samuel with a shocking message for Eli (1 Samuel 3: 11-14). Our text today shows that Samuel grew physically and spiritually because the Lord was with him. All his prophecies came to pass so Israel knew that Samuel had been established as God’s prophet. The word of the Lord became prevalent in Shiloh because Samuel lived there.

There are so many places of worship in our country today, with so many deacons, priests, bishops, apostles, prophets and diverse men and women of God. However, corruption, kidnapping, ritual killings, sexual immorality, robbery, divorce, alcoholism, insecurity, tribalism, racism, etc., are increasing everywhere. We need people like Samuel in our nation! May God raise us a prophet like Samuel who will be bold, faithful and dedicated to God’s service. Repent of your sins today and ask God to reveal Himself anew to you. Again, pray for all men and women of God to be faithful to their calling.

PRAYER: Father, may You raise faithful prophets in our land to proclaim Your word fearlessly, Amen.
